Dear friends,
What a month February 2011 was. I had been in Waco, Texas visiting my brother and his family including Kendyl, his new grandchild. On the 7th I flew to Miami where I met up with Pastor Rick Ireland to go to Lima, Peru for the Latin America Leadership Summit. This meeting of most of our Free Methodist South American Missionaries was lead by Dr. Delia Neusch-Olver,Dr. Paul Olver and Allison Coventry, an Elder in the FMC.
Dr. Delia gave her vision of reaching the nations through ministering to the cities. As cities such as Lima, population of over 10,000,000, continue to grow and some who come return to their former homes the gospel will be carried back to those homes and families. The thrust of giving the Gospel to the teeming population centers is a must.
Dr. Paul gave a series of messages regarding the encounter of the two disciples with Christ on the Emmaus Road. “Didn’t our hearts feel strangely warmed” as we encountered the Christ through the preaching.
Allison did a great job of leading the times of worship including the communion service on Sunday.
February 15th I had the opportunity to return to the North Broward Medical Center and express my thanks in person to several of the nurses and rehab personnel who attended me in my 30 day stay after the earthquake. It was especially great to hug nurse Sharon and tell her she was right—”it’s going to be alright baby”. A big thanks to Nancy for providing transportation and rehab care.
February 16th RETURNED TO HAITI. Moved into Chateau Jacques at the Vivy Mitchell residence. One bedroom, one bathroom, one kitchen-study area. One of me and so plenty of room. Thanks to Russ and Sherrie Cole and Alice Van Norman for all their work in preparing my new home.
I will be working with Haiti Child Care in the area of logistics in distributing food, water filters, and school supplies. In addition I will be helping with teams who come to work on schools. I continued the ongoing filter distribution last Thursday when I passed out 20 filters plus buckets to the school at Druin and taught the director and three teachers to use them. Last Saturday we had a meeting of the teachers who will be instructing the 5th grade student in their schools to use Solar cookers. Pastor Barthelemy gave each a booklet of the directions and teachings about the need and reality of Solar use.
I will continue to work with the Solar Committee.
Thanks for your continued support and prayers through this last year.
