Dear Friends
It’s been a busy few months as we have worked here in Haiti, traveled for ministry and family needs, and continued with missionary coursework. Let us share what God is doing.
Here in Haiti the dry season is in full force. Though the dust is present everywhere , the temperature is a bit lower, and this is a welcome relief to us. Both of us are teaching in the Bible Institute which is now in mid-second semester. Rick is working with the Superintendents on plans for the upcoming Annual Conference (to be held in Port-au-Prince during the last week of March) where the goal of becoming a Provisional General Conference will be close to attainment.
Work teams from the US and Canada continue their good work here in Haiti, repairing and constructing schools and churches, as well as providing medical care. In addition, several individuals have come for specific projects, some agricultural and some associated with pastoral training at the Bible Institute. We are so grateful to all these folks who give of their time and effort to help our Haitian brothers and sisters. I (Cookie) have been very busy at the maternity center. We have been busy with births, but our goal is not just healthy births, but also changed lives. Our clinic days on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, include include educational classes on all types of health concerns and prenatal and postpartum information and Bible study as well. We feel this is really the heart of our program.
And let us not forget to add- On a personal note, we welcomed a new grandson into our family on January 12. We are so thrilled to have this new blessing in our family!!
Montcarmelle-prayer
Scripture and Prayer: Mother and Father pray for a safe birth.
Prayer Requests
Please pray for:
- Safety and Protection as we work and travel. Elections will be held March 20 with the results being announced about a week later. Election issues prompted much unrest in November and December. Please pray for calm and peaceful transition of power.
- Open ears and minds to learn the Haitian Creole language.
- Strength and willing spirits-that we not become weary in well-doing.
- Good health
- Upcoming Annual Conference
- “The Ladies” at the Maternity Center-for healthy pregnancies and births and growth in their spiritual lives. The tent camp below is the home of one of our ladies. We were on our way to do a home visit to check on her and her baby who had been born a few weeks early. May our hearts be tender as we come alongside those who have so little materially. May we be faithful in showing God’s love.
